Frankincense essential oil uses
- Frankincense is a mild oil and most people can apply it directly to skin, or neat, without any issues. However, if you experience any burning, tingling, or irritation, dilute the oil by rubbing a carrier oil, such as jojoba oil, or sweet almond oil, over the irritated area.
- Add frankincense to unscented skin care products, such as lotions, face creams, or moisturizers. The basic rule of thumb is to add 6 drops of frankincense per 25grams of product. If you're adding frankincense to a face cream, add fewer drops. It is one of the best oils in skin care as it helps to rejuvenate skin tone and prevent wrinkles
- Frankincense is the most valuable oil for slowing and deepening the breathing, helping to allay fear, anxiety, nervous tension and stress.
- It counteracts respiratory problems and is useful for treating colds, bonchitis, asthma, coughs and sore throats.
- Psychologically, frankincense is a valuable aid to meditation and prayer by generally stilling the mind. It is deeply calming, revitalising and uplifting.
- A Wise Man's Cure: Frankincense and Myrrh. Though perhaps best known for their use in incense and ancient rituals, these substances—both of which boast proven antiseptic and inflammatory properties—were once considered effective remedies for everything from toothaches to leprosy.
- If you have that fire going, before you add the next log, add a couple of drops of essential oils onto it, such as Ylang Ylang, Orange, Lemon Myrtle, Cypress or Frankincense and enjoy the aroma. If you don’t have a fire put a couple of either of the essential oils into a vapouriser, pot pourri, light bulb ring or as a room spray. And enjoy the smell of winter!!
