What are the Benefits of Peppermint Essential Oil

  • A topical application for relief from itching, muscle pain, and headache.
  • A flavoring agent in foods and in products such as mouthwashes.
  • Treatment for a variety of conditions, including irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), nausea, and other digestive issues, as well as the common cold and headaches. Seek professional medical advice before ingesting peppermint oil, lots of benifits but very powerful!
  • Its invigorating properties lend the oil its energizing effects. Used medicinally, Peppermint essential oil has been found to eliminate harmful bacteria, relieve muscle spasms and flatulence, disinfect and soothe inflamed skin, and to release muscle tension when used in a massage.
  • Used in a diffuser peppermint oil will awaken your brain and keep you alert for late night studying or long paperwork sessions.
  • Also when diffused, Peppermint Essential Oil can boost energy, clear the respiratory tract, stimulate circulation, alleviate feelings of nervous tension and stress, and soothe feelings of irritability.
  • In a massage, Peppermint Essential Oil relieves fatigue, muscle spasms, muscle tension, flatulence, and fever. Add 6 drops of peppermint oil and 10 drops of sweet orange oil to a 100mls of maccadamia oil for an amazing massage oil.
  • The topical application of peppermint oil is generally safe, although it is necessary to dilute with a carrier oil like sweet almond or jojoba oil. It is advised that some people may experience a burning sensation or allergic rash, especially with sensitive skin.
  • Peppermint oil has soothing and cooling abilities that freshen the skin. It also has properties that facilitate oil secretion, making it an effective component against acne
  • Peppermint oil contains menthol, which can help muscles relax and ease pain. It's thought that applying diluted peppermint oil directly to the temples can help relieve pain from both tension headaches and migraines
  • Tired Feet?

For a rejuvenating foot rub blend. Start with 15mls of base oil (sweet almond or avocado oil), add 15ml of Carrot Healing Oil,                 and 2- 3 drops each of Peppermint, Eucalyptus and Lavender Essential Oils.

  • Freshen Up Your Bins!

Keep your bins smelling fresh with a spritzer using any number of essential oils you feel will make your garbage area more                     pleasant. Most commonly used would be Lemon or other citrus essential oil; mints, like Peppermint and SpearmintEucalyptus,             Rosemary; or even spices like Cinnamon and Clove Leaf.

  • Mouse & Bug Repellent

Not only does peppermint oil repel ants, it also repels spiders. In fact, peppermint keeps most pests away, including aphids, beetles, caterpillars, fleas, flies, lice, mice and moths.

One of the best Essential Oils to use to repel mice is Peppermint Essential Oil, Spearmint may also work just as effectively too. Make a spritzer with 100 ml of water and 20 drops of Peppermint Essential Oil (you can also solubilise the oil first by using a solubiliser, mix 5 drops of polysorbate with the 20 drops of Peppermint essential oil first before adding to your water). Clean out your cupboards, then spray the cupboards with your home made spritzer, do not wipe off. Pack everything back in. You could also put Peppermint Essential Oil onto cotton wool balls in spots that you think mice are getting in. This will deter the mice from coming in without inhumanely killing them.

Do not take any oils internally and do not apply undiluted essential oils, absolutes, CO2s or other concentrated essences onto the skin without advanced essential oil knowledge or consultation from a qualified aromatherapy practitioner.
